Kelly is a skilled stagehand and lighting designer with extensive experience managing
high-demand live productions. As the technical manager of a 900-seat theatre, they navigate
complex logistics, oversee crew operations, and ensure seamless event execution, all while
balancing additional freelance work as a stage manager and lighting director for a production
company. Their expertise spans from rigging and lighting design to production planning and
troubleshooting, making them a key problem solver in fast-paced environments.
Beyond the stage, Kelly is passionate about mentorship and efficiency, always looking for
ways to refine workflows and improve working conditions for technical crews. They bring a calm,

Head Carpenter Jo Ann Davidson Theatre – Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA)

Oversee all technical department heads, coordinating advance meetings, stage drawings, estimates, schedules, and labor. Manage the rental of gear, and supervises load-ins, load-outs, productions, and performances to ensure seamless execution. Foster a collaborative team environment that supports growth, organization, and effective communication. Spearheaded technology upgrades, including the purchase of new LED fixtures, video equipment enhancements, and facility renovations. Provide budget estimates, negotiate production requirements with clients, and handle the daily operations of the theater, including payroll calculation and submission.
Lighting Director May - Above Sound and Lighting (ASL)
Responsibilities include designing and implementing dynamic lighting solutions for a wide range of live events, ensuring creative visions align with client expectations and technical feasibility. This role involves developing detailed production designs and technical drawings, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution from concept to completion. On-site production operations are managed effectively, including leading technical crews, troubleshooting real-time challenges, and overseeing equipment inventory, maintenance, and procurement. Strategic equipment purchases are planned in collaboration with company leadership to enhance production capabilities. Additional duties include preparing detailed quotes, managing project budgets, strong relationships with clients.
Lead Stage/Park Electrician – Columbus Commons Bicentennial Pavilion
Responaibilities included managing stage lighting production operations, leading technical crews in the creation and implementation of the venue's rep lighting plot and related documentation. Coordinated with guest designers for event advancements, and supervised load-ins, load-outs, and onsite technical support for concerts, food truck festivals, and community events. Ensured smooth technical execution across diverse events within the park.
